He designs for various companies and has consulted with industry partners such as Apple Inc and Under Armour. Hagan\u2019s research with the <a href=\"http:\/\/vtrg.squarespace.com\/\">Virtual Textile Research Group<\/a> investigates historical industrial textile processes, advanced manufacturing, volumetric weaving for rapid prototyping and new computational tools for textile design. A current <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nsf.gov\/awardsearch\/show-award\/?AWD_ID=2504406\">NSF project<\/a> explores technique-agnostic yarn assembly through novel equipment, simulation and tangible design strategies. In 2015 Hagan cofounded the textile technology company Computational Textiles Inc, which launched <a href=\"http:\/\/www.weft.design\/\">Weft<\/a> in 2018. Hagan collaborates with many fine artists and maintains an active studio practice centered on hand-based work. He is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.risd.edu\/academics\/textiles\/faculty\/brooks-hagan\">professor at Rhode Island School of Design<\/a> (RISD) where he has taught since 2006.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Brooks Hagan is a textile designer, artist and researcher.
